Speaker Series at GMTF & Potluck Dinner!

Join us for a hands on presentation about the design and framing of buildings using a compass, a line, and a scribe – the tools available to builders before the Industrial Revolution.

Practical Geometry: What is it? How did our ancestors use it?
Join Geometer, Jane Griswold Radocchia on Saturday, October 18 in the historic Reuben Wait Barn for a hands on introduction to the design and framing of buildings using a compass, a line, and a scribe – the Practical Geometry used before the Industrial Revolution. Together we will learn how to use a compass to lay out a square, divide a square into 3 equal rectangles without measuring, and set a square corner with a compass.

5:15 PM - Doors open
5:30 PM - Historic Use of Geometry in Construction. A presentation by Jane Griswold Radocchia
6:45 PM - Potluck dinner and conversation

Tickets: Free-will donation at the door. However, seating is limited, and advance reservation is required.

Dinner: All are invited to join us after the presentation for a shared meal and conversation. If you are able, please bring a dish to share for the potluck dinner. BYO preferred beverage.
