This class will start with an overview of historical styles of timber framing brought to New England in the 1600s and 1700s, and then we will discuss how the craft developed and changed in the 1800s. We will discuss some of the key factors that guide timber frame joinery design, and then we will shift into a hands on demonstration of lay out and cutting of a mortise and tenon joint with the use of hand tools.
Please wear closed toe shoes if you want to use the woodworking tools. Safety toe work boots are best if you have them.
