About this Event

Come join us for an informative session where we delve into the crucial role architects play in defining the success of a project through the Owner's Project Requirements (OPR). This in-person event will take place at 4331 NW 22nd St in partnership with AIA Miami and the Miami-Dade Aviation Department.

Course Description

Architects are more than design professionals. They're shepherds, counselors, cheer leaders, client-whisperers. Today's environment calls upon the architectural community to play roles and perform tasks beyond customary design and programming, and in the past two decades, as building commissioning has gone from "What's that?" to "Yes, please!", one of those tasks has been to assist clients in developing the Owner's Project Requirements document, or "OPR". The OPR defines success for any building and is a requirement of any LEED or FGBC project, but a good one can also deepend conversation with your client.

Learning Objectives

  1. The ability to describe the purpose and functional parts of an OPR.
  2. Explain how the OPR can clarify and strengthen the design process.
  3. Be able to illustrate what to include and what to leave out of an OPR.
  4. Provide real-world examples of OPR provisions that saved time and heartache.
