Lex Schmidt, professionally known as OdoNata, is a Miami-based multi-instrumentalist, music producer, and passionate educator.

A graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, he brings over 15 years of professional experience as a drummer, percussionist, and musician, with a deep focus on global rhythmic traditions.

Lex has traveled to West Africa multiple times, completing an intensive two-year study program throughout various countries in the region, and has also pursued musical studies in multiple parts of Brazil.

Self-taught on the Kamale N’goni, Didgeridoo, Ilimba, and Handpan he blends traditional instrumentation with a modern creative voice.

As the creative mind behind all things OdoNata, Lex Schmidt’s workreflects a lifelong dedication to cultural exploration, musical craftsmanship, and artistic innovation.

Pushing the boundaries of contemporary groove music through healing-driven infusions, he has developed a distinctive sound rooted in West African, Afro-Latin, and world music traditions.
