Exploring Death and Dying in a Meaningful Way is an intense and meaningful one-day workshop grounded in the field of thanatology—the scientific and interdisciplinary study of death, dying, and bereavement. This course is designed for individuals seeking to explore their understanding of end-of-life issues in a compassionate, educational, and reflective environment.
Facilitated by Ligia M. Houben, MA, FT, CPC—a Certified Grief Counselor and Coach, Thanatologist, and Educator—this experience blends academic insight with interactive learning. Ligia taught courses on Death and Dying at Florida International University and Kaplan University, and talks about this issue from the heart. Through experiential exercises, group dialogue, and informative lectures, participants will explore personal, societal, and spiritual dimensions of death and dying.
This workshop addresses the reality that although death is a universal experience, it is often avoided due to fear, cultural silence, or lack of understanding. By confronting these themes directly and sensitively, participants will gain a deeper awareness of their beliefs, values, and legacy.
