MLP Technical Fellowship Program: Lighting Equipment

Step into the world of theatrical lighting with this hands-on workshop, part of Miami Light Project’s Technical Fellowship Program for emerging South Florida-based technicians. Whether you're curious about how lighting design supports storytelling or want to deepen your backstage skills, this session will help illuminate the technical side of lighting.

Led by Arturo (Art) Garcia, a seasoned South Florida theater artist and technician, this workshop will cover power basics, fixture types, and how to choose the right lighting tools for different production needs. Art brings years of experience as a technical director, teaching artist, and performer—and is a 2020 South Florida Theater League Remy Award winner for Outstanding Contribution to Children’s Theater.

About the Technical Fellowship Program:Miami Light Project’s Technical Fellowship Program supports the next generation of theater technicians through skills training, mentorship, and paid work experience. The program includes:

• Technical theater workshops: Lighting, Audio, Video, Stage Management, Finance, and more
• Access to professional demos and tools
• 40 hours of on-the-job training through mentorship and backstage experience
• Paid internship opportunities for those who complete training
• Workforce development support and job placement assistance
