In this interactive workshop, these talented mystery authors will brainstorm on their feet to create a brand new mystery using suggestions provided by the audience. Fun, fast-paced, and fascinating, this improv game offers important insights into mystery writers’ minds and the conventions of the genre.

Edith Maxwell: As Maddie Day, she writes the Country Store Mysteries, the Cozy Capers Book Group Mysteries, and the Cece Barton Mysteries. As Agatha Award winning Edith Maxwell, she writes the historical Quaker Midwife Mysteries and the Local Foods Mysteries. Maxwell's short crime fiction has appeared in many juried anthologies and magazines. She was honored to serve as President of Sisters in Crime New England and is a proud Lifetime member of Sisters in Crime National, as well as a professional member of Mystery Writers of America. A fourth-generation Californian and former tech writer, farmer, and doula, Maxwell writes, cooks, gardens, and wastes time on Facebook north of Boston. J.A. McIntosh: A recovering attorney, she still lives in the small Massachusetts town where she was born, though she travels often. She writes the Meredith, Massachusetts series about imperfect people seeking justice. Her latest novel, Swift River Secrets, is a contemporary mystery with historical elements going back one hundred years. She is the president of the Swift River Valley Historical Society and belongs to Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, and the Straw Dog Writers Guild.
Bonnar Spring: Is an Al Blanchard and Derringer award-winning author who writes short fiction and international thrillers with morally ambiguous characters. A nomad at heart, Bonnar hitchhiked across Europe at sixteen and joined the Peace Corps after college. After living and teaching overseas, she returned to the US where she earned an Ed.M. from Harvard and taught ESL. She hosts the Crime Wave podcast, part of the Authors on the Air Radio Network.
