Lecture: Pop-Punk as Poetry

ROCK ON! Back by popular demand, Dr. Christie Cognevich will will discuss how to analyze and interpret lyrics from rock and punk music like poetry on Thursday, August 7, 6:30 pm, at the East Bank Regional Library. Come celebrate iconic pop-punk bands like blink-182, Jimmy Eat World, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Relient K, and others. This event is free of charge and is open to the public. There is no registration.

Cognevich will continue this monthly lectures on Wednesday, September 10, at 6:30 pm.

Cognevich has an MA in English literature from the University of New Orleans and a PhD in English literature from Louisiana State University. Additionally, she has an MFA in creative writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and is the author of several YA non-fiction books. She has met Tom DeLonge of blink-182 three times. He held her UNO graduation cap and said finishing her master's thesis was “so cool.”
