Come join the Rogue Aquatic Invasives Network (RAIN) to help remove invasive ludwigia and parrotfeather from a backwater slough just upstream of Whitehorse County Park. For this event, you will be expected to bring your own water bottle(s), hat, sunscreen, change of clothes, close-toed water shoes, and a personal floatation device (PFD). This activity will require you to wade in water that may be as deep as your chest, so if you are planning on being near the center of the slough, wearing your PFD is highly recommended. The schedule for the event is planned as follows:
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Aquatic W**d pull. You will see a demonstration from one of several RAIN partners prior to getting into the water. Target plants are ludwigia and parrotfeather.
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch break and networking. Lunch will be provided due to the generous funding from the Oregon Invasive Species Council.
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Celebratory river float from Whitehorse to Griffin County Park. Times may vary. You are welcome to bring your own raft, kayak, or inflatable kayak. Please plan your own shuttle, although some room in RAIN partners' vehicles may be available.
