Story Book Stroll - A Self Guided First Day Hike

Head out on a self-guided First Day Hike along the Shinnery Ridge Trail, featuring pages from the children's book "Walking Through Texas" by author Courtney Rubalcaba displayed along the route.

Bring your friends and family for a fun, refreshing day in nature as you enjoy this charming story about Texas wildlife and step into 2026 with a renewed spirit of discovery!

Difficulty: Easy, paved section of trail
Length: less than 0.75 miles

Meet: Shinnery Ridge Trailhead and head down the paved section. The story will be available from 8:00am - 4:00pm

Bring: Weather appropriate clothing, Water, Sunscreen, Bug Spray, and Closed-Toe Shoes.
Cost: Free with park admission. Park admission is free with a Texas Parks Pass.
