TRAIL WORK TUESDAY

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone has been out enjoying the great Fall weather.

Last week was another successful day. We pruned the apple trees and cleared the area around them to provide easy access by hikers. With a large group of volunteers, we finished up the task in an hour. In the extra time we cleaned up a trio of invasives (autumn olive, bittersweet and multiflora rose) that were overrunning a birch and aspen on the eastern side of the meadow. Thanks to everyone who was able to participate.

This week we will work along the border of the meadow cutting the invasives down to around knee height to facilitate removal.

Where: Barnard Ridge Parking lot at 9:00

Tools: Pole saws (very useful for autumn olive), small e-chainsaws, loppers, shears, pruners. There are potentially lots of thorns so remember gloves.
