What’s it all about?
Join professional artist Samantha Thompson for a hands-on, creative morning learning how to make abstract monoprints—one-of-a-kind artworks made using ink, colour, and pressure. This workshop is playful, expressive, and ideal for anyone curious about printmaking.
You’ll explore shapes, textures and colours, and use a large studio press to create your own unique work. Expect a relaxed environment, good company, and a few laughs too. No experience necessary!
Everyone leaves with a finished piece and a couple of beautiful prints to take home.
What’s included:
All materials (ink, linocut, tools, and high-quality printmaking paper)
Use of a large professional press
Option to print in A3 or A5 size
Expert guidance and plenty of encouragement
Group size:
Small and personal – max 4 participants (minimum 2 to run)
Who is it for?
Anyone aged 10+ who wants to experiment with art, try something new, or just enjoy a creative day out. Great for beginners and experienced artists alike—especially if you’ve always wanted to try working with a press!

About the Facilitator
Samantha Thompson is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist and passionate regional arts advocate based in Victoria, Australia. With over 25 years of experience, she has exhibited in galleries across the country and internationally, producing 22 solo exhibitions since 2003.
Samantha’s work spans textile art, printmaking, mixed media, soft sculpture, and performance. Her bold lines, playful themes, and layered domestic scenes are influenced by a deep love of traditional textile techniques and family craft. Her recent series, Relationship to Play, invites adults to rediscover creativity and embrace playfulness in everyday life.
