You’re invited to a farm tour and a sheep farming 101 session at Nine West Farms near Codette, Saskatchewan! If you’re curious about sheep farming – or just want to check out what your local farmers are up to – join us for the event.
While sheep are the heart of their operation, Taylor and Joel of Nine West Farms have also explored laying hens, cut flowers, and market gardening. In 2019, they brought home their first 30 sheep, and since then, their flock has expanded to around 100 breeding ewes.
During this tour you’ll have a chance to:
-Explore their sheep farm and learn about starting and managing your flock
-Hear the lessons they learned from their years of experience
Taylor and Joel want to pay it forward—sharing what they’ve learned and encouraging others who are just beginning their journey.
Whether you’re planning your first lambing season or simply love the idea of life on the land, all are welcome at Nine West Farms.

About Nine West Farms
Taylor and Joel got their first laying hens in 2018, and things have only grown from there. In 2019, they brought home our first 30 sheep—and since then, their flock has expanded to around 100 breeding ewes.
Over the past few years, Taylor has completed several courses through the University of Saskatchewan, earning certificates in Prairie Horticulture with a focus on Fruit & Vegetable Production and Greenhouse Production.
For a couple of seasons, they also dabbled in small-scale market gardening and cut flowers. While they have put those ventures on pause for now to focus on expanding their sheep flock, raising their kids, and reworking their yard setup, they are excited to offer fresh flowers again in the future.
Taylor, who grew up on a mixed grain and beef farm, jumped into sheep, flowers, and veggies with no prior experience. She says:
“I certainly didn’t know anything about sheep or growing vegetables and flowers to sell. It has been quite an adventure figuring this all out on the go!”
