Come join the wonderful Kym Alexandra Dillon and William Vyvyan Murray as they perform a program of Sonatas, Songs and Spiders at Russian House - 118 Greeves Street, Fitzroy.
The first half features the stunning work of local composer and song woman Ruby Hunter, Japanese legend Toru Takemitsu's "A bird came down the walk" and Ukrainian composer Stefania Turkewich's beautiful "Spider" as well as new music composed by William Vyvyan Murray and Kym Alexandra Dillon.
The second half will feature Dmitri Shostakovich's Sonata for viola and Piano. The last thing Dmitri wrote in 1975, finished on his bed in hospital where he passed away from lung cancer days after completing the work.
William was fortunate to spend a month working & playing with Mikhail Muntian in 2012, the pianist who Dmitri wrote the Sonata for in 1975 and will share some of his stories of the genesis of the piece at the concert.
