AMNESTY UNIMELB WELCOME NIGHT "The Zone of Interest" FREE Screening

AMNESTY UNIMELB is proud to host its first event, a WELCOME NIGHT for an educational, non-for-profit screening of Jonathan Glazer's film The Zone of Interest, winner of Academy Award for Best International Feature Film and 13 other academy awards.

The film focuses on the life of German Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife Hedwig, who live with their family in a home in the "Zone of Interest" next to the German concentration camp. The film explores the lives of the Höss family living in this zone, juxtaposing their seemingly normal domestic life with the horrors occurring just beyond the walls of their garden. Amnesty Unimelb selected this film as it challenges all of us to be vigilant in protecting and defending human rights, and showcases how atrocities and evil becomes ambient to our lives.
