*The Promise Walk Wherever is a virtual walk. Walk anywhere you want and if this date doesn't work for you, pick a date that does! Be sure to tag us on social media when you walk!
Every day, hundreds of families face the unexpected diagnosis of preeclampsia or HELLP syndrome. With the diagnosis comes uncertainty, fear, frustration, and anger. When they turn for answers and information, they find the Preeclampsia Foundation and our community.
One of the most important ways that families can connect with the Foundation and other families like theirs is through our Promise Walk for Preeclampsia events, a walk-a-thon to raise funds and awareness for preeclampsia education and research. Participants can register a team, invite friends and families, and fundraise to help others like them through our mission. These events take place in dozens of locations each year, but for families and supporters who don't have a local walk to attend, we come together virtually during our Promise Walk Wherever event.
The 2025 Promise Walk for Preeclampsia Honorary Chair is Traci Stumpf!
Traci is an Emmy award-winning television host, on-camera coach, and mother of two. With a career spanning over a decade, Traci has hosted shows for E!, MTV, CBS, Discovery, and more bringing her signature mix of warmth, wit, and relatability to screens across the country.
🎥Off-camera, Traci is a passionate advocate for maternal health after experiencing a life-threatening case of preeclampsia with her first child. Her personal journey fuels her commitment to raising awareness, supporting other mothers, and using her platform to inspire change.
Traci Stumpf was 33 years old and had what was described as a "textbook pregnancy". However, everything changed when she went into labor with her daughter, Lois. Traci's blood pressure skyrocketed, and shortly after delivery was rushed to the maternal ICU.
She was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. Traci reflects, "I eventually left the hospital, but my recovery was far from over. I was left to navigate the early postpartum days in a way I never could have imagined."
Traci was later diagnosed with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). She went on to have a second child, and with careful monitoring with her providers, she did not experience the same complications. "If sharing my story helps even one person, then this chapter of my life has meaning far beyond survival. Awareness is powerful, and our stories have the power to save lives."
