About the event
Calke Explore and Ticknall Limestone quarry
Starting from the Village Hall we will enter Calke Abbey and explore the Limestone quarry before circling round through the fields and woods towards Calke Explore then following the old tramway round before stopping at The Chequers Inn for a quick refreshment break before returning to the Hall.
* Im not sure how far this walk is yet but I will be doing a reconaissance very soon so watch for detail changes.
** This walk does not go near the House and Gardens this time.
*** some scrambling is involved to see some of the old quarry but I understand not all will be comfortable so there will be an extra 15 / 20 minute break for those that arent comfortable on steep banks as we wait for the others to return.
