The Southeastern Iowa Astronomy Club will open the Witte Observatory Complex BY RESERVATION only to the public.
Note that there IS NO BACK-UP date for this Event. You will be notified via e-mail IF we are going to cancel this event due to poor sky / weather conditions.
Mars will be very low on the western horizon as the viewing event begins. Saturn will be rising from the eastern horizon about 9:30 pm. It might be high enough to view through the telescope before the evening wraps up ;-)
The Moon will be in its last quarter phase and so will not rise until about 11:30 PM. The absence of bright moonlight will make viewing faint nebula a definitely possibility if the skies are clear. <3 Star clusters and double stars will make great targets as well.
