Cumberland County saw historic gains in the November 5 election — and Mechanicsburg and Upper Allen Township were part of that success, with six Democrats winning their races. Our victories included two seats on the MASD School Board, two on Borough Council, one for Tax Collector, and one for Upper Allen Township Commissioner. Just when we thought Election Night couldn’t get any better… it did!
After counting the provisional ballots in Upper Allen Township, we’re thrilled to share that Karen Overly Smith has won her race for UAT Commissioner, defeating Jim Cochran by just 5 votes.
With this victory, the Upper Allen Township Board of Commissioners now has a Democratic supermajority. In just a few short years, we’ve gone from an all-Republican board to this incredible milestone. It’s a powerful reminder of what steady, grassroots organizing can achieve.
To celebrate these historic wins—and to start planning how we’ll keep the momentum going into 2026 and beyond—please join us for pizza and salad at Marzoni’s.
Let’s celebrate, reflect on how far we’ve come, and keep building together. RSVP IS REQUIRED!
