Austrian Summer Wine Festival!

If you’re new to the Chain Bridge Cellars family, you may not yet have caught on to how much we love the vivid, food-friendly, distinctively delicious wines of Austria. And if have enjoyed the Austrian wines we regularly feature, they you know they can deliver delicious value, too. And you haven’t caught the Austrian wine bug yet, this super Saturday tasting featuring 15 Austrian selections from importer Klaus Wittauer will put you firmly “in the know”!

From noon-4pm on Saturday, August 2, Klaus and friends will be pouring 15 delicious Austrian wines to help you beat the heat of summer and celebrate time with family and friends at back deck cookouts through winter chill to come. You’ll get to know great bargain and just plain great examples of Austria’s signature grape, Grüner Veltiner, including a wild (and possibly divisive) example made with no sulfur and LOTS of character!

Beyond Grüner get to know how Austria crafts snappy dry Riesling, rich but savory Pinot Gris and delicious rarities like Roter Veltliner (no relation to Grüner, believe it or not). And because wine-lovers don’t live by white wine alone, this is your chance to taste how Austria does red as well. Native grapes like Zweigelt, Burgundy’s Pinot Noir and even a robust example you might mistake for a California red Blend will all be out and ready to try. Here’s the full line-up:
