Love, laughter, and a very tiny apartment take center stage this summer as McKinney Repertory Theatre (MRT) presents Barefoot in the Park, Neil Simon’s timeless romantic comedy about love, marriage, and mismatched expectations. Directed by Nathan Autrey and produced by Marilyn Latham, the show runs July 25–August 9, 2025, at the historic Courtroom Theater in the McKinney Performing Arts Center in downtown McKinney.
Set in a fifth-floor walk-up in New York City, newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter are just beginning their life together. He’s a straight-laced, rising young attorney. She’s a free-spirited romantic looking for adventure. Their new apartment may be charming, but it’s cramped, leaky, and full of surprises—including an eccentric upstairs neighbor and a surprise visit from Corie’s conservative mother.
As Corie pushes Paul to loosen up and Paul urges Corie to settle down, their marriage is put to the test in hilarious and heartwarming ways. Through mismatched ideals, comedic mishaps, and plenty of bickering, the young couple begins to learn what it really takes to make a relationship work.
