On Small Business Saturday, let's explore a section of the Old Suwanee River in all its majesty, history & pure natural beauty!
Meet time is 8:00 am at Hardenberg Boat Ramp. Drop your vessels and gear and join the shelf shuttle brigade as we stage vehicles at 2 separate takeouts:
Option # 1 short 3 mile paddle takeout - Ruth Springs Canoe Launch
Option # 2 long paddle all day all the way takeout - Ivey Memorial Park Ramp (10 + miles)
Our mission if you dare, is to launch by 9:00 am & float downstream the entire day till dinner time. We will drop off folks at Ruth Springs Canoe Launch if you need to be off the water by noon.
While paddling down river on the Suwanee we will paddle into & around 10 springs! Convict Springs, Royal Springs Run, Suwannee Blue Springs, Owens Springs, Mearson Springs, Adams Tract River Camp, Troy Springs, Ruth Springs, Little River Springs, & Branford Springs. Things to check out will be limestone Shoals & pools at the rivers edge, levees & swales best seen when hiking, large overhanging live oak trees.
And what I really hope to see are the remains of the steamboat Madison at the bottom of Troy Springs Run!
We will try our best 2 be off the water by 5:30 pm since sunset is early.
Please bring all your provisions & gear for the day. Don't forget food & water we will be out in the middle of nowhere. Remember your responsible for your own safety!
Follow the thread below for more maps & directions. See you on the water!
