LIVE IN THE ROOM and ON THE ZOOM
Oh how we missed you all in May. We hope you were cavorting in the sunshine. The long daylight hours are perfect for our next guests stories, in a peculiar way. You may be grateful for the reassurance of daylight as Nell Phoenix brings us tales of the Uncanny, the weird and the wonderful.
'UNCANNY' told by Nell Phoenix
'I heard a whining voice but saw no body in the room''
We saw her and we saw right through her''
I blinked just once and he had changed his shape'
Nell paces a path from dusty Mesopotamia, to Ancient Egypt, through Bloomsbury, London, along a dingy road at dawn in Guatemala,to her kitchen table -gathering up disturbing, unsettling, baffling, bewildering, sinister UNCANNY stories. These are not literary tales crafted to scare you, or folktales, bloody fairytales or urban myths - these are spine-tingling tales told as TRUE. Who are these witnesses of these other-worldly acts? Why did they tell their stories? Do we believe in ghosts?
A lively night of eerie stories told by one of the UKs most popular and dynamic storytellers, Nell Phoenix. Nell has been a performance storyteller for over 25 years sharing stories at festivals, theatres, schools and clubs all over the world. She has run StoryNight at Torriano, a tiny candlelit storytelling in London for over 18 years and she is a passionate promoter of storytelling as a contemporary performance art.
'a mercurial and captivating performer. ' Exeunt Magazine .
’She picks through the syllables and pauses of her tale like a mountain goat skipping up a cliff face - confident, able and never close to putting a foot wrong. – londoncitynights
I found her performance stunning, full of wit and extraordinarily poetic.“ - Reinhold, Erzählbühne Berlin, Theater oN
Nell has graced our stage on several occasions. If you've seen her already you know how her engaging, captivating presence draws you into the stories. If you haven't had the pleasure already, are you in for a treat!
