LIVE IN THE ROOM and ON THE ZOOM
The dark is wrapping itself around us like a cosy blanket. We're so close to the shortest day of the year. That can only mean lovely long nights of storytelling. Draw close to the candle's light, cup your hot drink in your hands, gather with the clan, it's that time again.
We are delighted to be hosting the hale and hearty wordsmith, scamperer of stages, barefoot legend Tim Ralphs to Matlock this December.
The Goddess of Spreadsheets by Tim Ralphs
A position has just opened in our More-than-Human Resources Department! As the heroic head of the hiring committee for the divine pantheon, it's up to you to put together a team of sacred scribes, astral accountants and celestial problem-solvers. Tim has got the candidates for you to consider. With the right team of Godly governors in place, this incorporeal corporation is going places!
Bureaucracy, administration and record-keeping are not modern phenomena. They've been a part of human life ever since Mesharra asked Gishkim if he could pay her back after the harvest. Our ancestors dealt with the pettiness of pointless forms, misfiled accounts and typographical errors, raising up deities and demons to preside over organisational systems for both the living and the dead.
From the ancient to the medieval, the holy to the impish, from around the world, prepare to synergise, disrupt and shift some paradigms. You might think a Sun God would be first choice for blue-sky thinking, but if you want to deep dive into the nitty-gritty of mythic bureaucracy, you're going to need to offer a prayer to The Goddess of Spreadsheets.
We will be live and in the room and also streaming via Zoom. We're loving our international reach and enjoy the 'shout outs' to our global audience. So, if you're willing and able, schmooze on down to the Imperial Rooms in Matlock and join us live. If you're elsewhere in the world or can't join us live for whatever reason then kick back, feet up and click on the link.
We are delighted to tell you that soup, cakes, teas coffees etc are available from our kitchen. We do still operate with good old fashioned cash, kerching! so bring your purse to cross our palms with silver. You are still most welcome to bring a bottle of something with you.
There'll likely be a tune or two from Cage Of Crows and stories from our current resident tellers.
We urge you to book in advance as we cannot guarantee there will be tickets available on the door.
We at Matlock Storytelling Cafe are embracing our quest; to bring top quality performances to adult audiences.
Grab a ticket, turn off your phone and join us on a journey. Online ticket sales will close at 7pm on the night.
The doors opens at 7.00pm, stories and music 7.30-10
