Join us for 6,000 years of history on this free guided walk (just bring along a lottery ticket to take part!).
We set off along the High Peak Trail β once the route of the pioneering Cromford and High Peak Railway (or was it a canal? Join us to find out!). Opened in 1831, it was one of Britainβs earliest modern railways and a true engineering marvel. Our journey takes in the Neolithic and Bronze Age Barrows atop Minninglow Hill, where early farming communities laid their dead to rest. Along the way, weβll aslo explore evidence of a Romano-British settlement and ancient field systems, the site of a 12th-century monastic grange, and see evidence of local industries such as limeburing and brickmaking.
Expect beautiful scenery, fascinating stories, and the chance to bag an Ethel along the way!
Come and walk through six millennia of history - all in a single day!
