The International Art Textile Biennale 2025 stands as a vibrant testament to the power of art textiles, to transcend boundaries and cultivate a profound appreciation for creativity and culture. As they converge upon this dynamic space, it is Fibre Arts Australia's collective mission to engage in meaningful dialogues, exploring the far-reaching implications and future potential of this versatile art form. The Biennale is more than an exhibition; it is a celebration of the intricate tapestry that brings together artists, curators, and audiences from around the world, fostering a deeper connection and understanding of textile arts.
42 pieces from 39 artists - 22 Australian and 20 international from 10 countries - touring nine galleries will be on show upstairs at Gatakers Creative Space from 15 August to 19 October.
The works featured in this Biennale are a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of textile artists. Each piece tells a unique story, capturing the essence of the artist's vision and challenging us to see textiles in a new light. From intricate embroideries to large-scale installations, the diversity of the artworks on display reflects the boundless possibilities of textile arts. These pieces not only showcase technical mastery but also evoke emotions, provoke thought, and spark conversations. They are a reminder of the power of art to connect us to our shared humanity and inspire us to look beyond the surface.
