We are a team of four from the Leadership Marshfield Class of 2025 that has set the goal of raising $750,000 to construct a new all-inclusive playground at Griese Park, which will be called the Forward Fun Zone. This new playground will be constructed in a new, larger, higher ground location that is more central to the soccer fields than the existing playground, which has been very well loved over its 25 year life but has begun to deteriorate in recent years. Layout of the new playground will be similar to the existing in that there will be a fenced in play area with structures that are geared towards 5 years old and younger, as well as many additional structures outside of the fenced in area for all children to enjoy.
We have incorporated shade structures into the design, as well as more seating for caregivers. Portions of poured in place rubber surfacing will be installed as budget allows, which helps greatly for accessibility for all abilities; wood chips will be installed throughout the remainder of the playground. We have raised about $581,000 thanks to the generosity of various businesses, individuals, and organizations, including Forward Bank, Marshfield Utilities, Staab Construction, Simplicity Credit Union, Nelson-Jameson, Roehl, and many others. We are still looking for additional sponsors to help us meet our $750,000 goal by this fall so playground equipment can be ordered and ready to go for install next spring 2026. We have an account established at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation and can take donations online or via check.
