The SCLA Management Committee invites all members and friends of the SCLA to join us for the 2025 Richard Williams Memorial Lecture, presented by Robert Whiteford of Counsel.
Please note that this event is on the WEDNESDAY NIGHT not Monday like our usual CPD.
Robert was admitted to the Bar in 1979 and spent the greater part of his distinguished career practising in succession law and equity.
Following his retirement from advocacy in 2024, he continues to contribute to the profession through his work as a mediator.
In this presentation, Robert will explore two key topics:
• Comments on Commission – a discussion of executors’ and trustees’ commission claims, including practical and procedural considerations; and
• The Tolerated Territory of Trusts – a reflection on whether trust deeds can validly extend trustee powers beyond those permitted under the Trusts Act, even where the Act asserts its provisions operate despite contrary terms in the deed.
With his depth of experience and dry wit, Robert brings thoughtful insight to these complex and often contentious areas of trust law.
As usual, light refreshments and drinks will be available for all attendees. Please ensure that you RSVP using the button below if you wish to attend to ensure that we cater for all on the evening.
Attendees may accrue 1 CPD point per hour so please ensure that you sign the register upon arrival to record your attendance.
