This session is perfect for anyone who is looking to swim in open water over the colder, winter months.
Have you been enjoying the open water over the warmer months and want to continue over the winter?
Are you a complete newbie to open water swimming and looking to give it a go?
Are you tempted to see what all the fuss is about then why not book on and give it a go!
You can never have enough knowledge when it comes to swimming in open particularly in the colder months.
The health benefits of being in open/cold water are huge to both our physical and mental health. But you have to know how to go about doing things in a sensible, safe way.
AIM OF THE SESSION
This session will last approximately 2 hours and aims to provide you with the information so you will be able to swim safely in the colder months.
The session will start with a whole group talk about the health benefits, the do's and don'ts, equipment you may need, how to overcome cold water shock, signs of hypothermia, what happens to your body, exiting safely and learning about the after drop (continued cooling)
There will be a supervised swim after the talk.
The length of time in the water will depend on the temperature.
All swimmers will be required to get changed together so you can be observed at all times.
Emails are sent out after the session recapping some of the information.
This is a great opportunity to experience the benefits of this amazing activity and meet like minded people. Open water swimmers are a friendly bunch.
