Advanced manufacturing is the practice of using innovative technologies and techniques to enhance the way a
company designs, processes and brings goods to market.
Advanced manufacturing is often associated with cutting-edge technologies, such as computer-integrated
manufacturing, automation, AI, Robotics and 3D printing, which are used on the factory floor to accelerate and
reduce the cost of production as well as creating highly skilled jobs.
The Cairns Manufacturing Hub will be delivering a one-day program offering students a unique opportunity to
explore advanced manufacturing career pathways through hands-on experience with various advanced
manufacturing technologies.
The One Day Program will include:
: Understanding the basics of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and its importance in manufacturing
: Learn how to design and print a 3D object
: Learn the basics of Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software for the Computer Numerical Control
(CNC) Lathe programming and its applications.
Participants will undertake activities to demonstrate the importance of these software programs and
technologies where students will write a simple program, print a 3D object and design a part using the Lathe
and other equipment.
REQUIREMENTS: Students must be aged 15 years or older, must have long pants, shirt and sandshoes.
DATES AVAILABLE: Friday 19th September 2025
