On Wednesday, September 17 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm cancer survivors, patients and their caregivers are invited to join artist Sue Scarborough for a puppets and storytelling class at the Cowell Cancer Center in Nags Head.
Have you ever wanted to rewrite a particular chapter of your personal story? Most of us have probably imagined this when life gets tougher than we'd like it to be. The arts offer us an imaginative, emotional escape from many of life's frustrations. Puppets, in particular, allow us to express things we might not otherwise say or do. For some, the word "puppet" conjures images of Jim Henson's popular characters-Miss Piggy, for instance; for others, it may seem like a word from a foreign language. One concise and catchy definition of a puppet is: "A peg on which to hang your imagination."
Please join us for a unique storytelling experience utilizing the magic of puppetry arts. No experience required. This workshop is for everyone.
Cost: Thanks to a Community Benefit Grant from Outer Banks Health, this workshop is free for cancer survivors, patients and their caregivers, and all supplies are included.
Although class is free, pre-registration is required so that the instructor can plan ahead for supplies. You can register online at DareArts.org/workshops or by calling Dare Arts at 252 473 5558.
Class is limited to 15 students.
Class location: Class will be held at the newly opened Cowell Cancer Center in Nags Head.
