On Wednesday, July 16 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm cancer survivors, patients and their caregivers are invited to join arts educator Holly Gottenborg for a create your own “story cloth" class at the Cowell Cancer Center in Nags Head.
A “story cloth,” is a small textile piece that tells part of your life story using fabric, stitching, and embellishments. Story cloths are inspired by traditional narrative textiles from around the world.
No experience required. This workshop is for everyone.
Cost: Thanks to a Community Benefit Grant from Outer Banks Health, this workshop is free for cancer survivors, patients and their caregivers, and all supplies are included.
Although class is free, pre-registration is required so that the instructor can plan ahead for supplies. You can register online at DareArts.org/workshops or by calling Dare Arts at 252 473 5558.

Instructor Bio: Holly Gottenborg is an experienced art educator living in K*ll Devil Hills, North Carolina. She earned her degree from East Carolina University and has been teaching in Dare County Schools for over 10 years. Currently, she teaches photography and art, and is passionate about the power of the arts to inspire, heal, and connect. Holly has a deep love for both art education and art therapy, often involving her students in meaningful community-based art projects. Outside the classroom, she enjoys life with her husband, their dog, and two cats. Holly believes in the transformative impact of creative expression and is excited to share that joy through her summer sessions.
