Lime mortar is essential in the repair of older buildings, allowing breathability in solid walls. This workshop takes away the mystery of using this age-old material. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners, owners of older buildings, and those entering the trades with an interest in older buildings.
Our tutor, Jason Mordan, will fill you in on the background of lime mortar use, its benefits, and how to get the right mix for your particular task. You will then get a chance to apply lime mortar pointing to real structures around the churchyard.
Please note the first session is inside The Church Centre, and will involve a presentation. The remainder of the day will be spent outside carrying out practical work.
We strongly recommend wearing suitable old clothing appropriate for the weather conditions and closed, sturdy footwear (safety boots ideally). You will also need a packed lunch, but the church centre does sell teas, coffees, and snacks.
The workshop is open to any individuals in the Mansfield community; and is free of charge. Places can be requested by emailing
