What: June 52 Hike Challenge - MN Chapter | National Trail Day Group Hike - WITH Bison Education, Trivia, Giveaways, and FUN!

🌿In honor of the 2025 National Trails Day, the 52 Hike Challenge MN Chapter will be holding to the principles and stewardship of hiking, while respecting the history and legacy of Minneopa State Park!

🌿We will be welcoming our friends, The Nostalgia Company - they will be sharing education and trivia alongside the Minneopa Bison Ambassadors about the history of Minneopa State Park, the importance and love for the roaming bison herd, and their uniquely memorable giveaways!

When: Saturday, June 7 - 10:00am to 1:00pm

Where: Minneopa State Park, Mankato, MN

Trail details & ability level: Approximately 5.1 miles of trail. The trail is rated easy and will take approximately 2.5hrs to complete.
This includes a stop at The Minneopa Bison Ambassador point along the trail to absorb bison education, view artifacts, and learn more of the history of this great State Park! We will pace ourselves to accommodate others and the possibility of varying trail conditions. We honor staying together as a group as much as possible!
Being able to hike at/around 2.5mph would be good for joining this hike.
There is an option to view the Minneopa Creek Waterfalls after the hike, if you'd like to join!

We will be mindful of weather conditions before this hike, to ensure everyone's safety.
This includes temperature, rain/storms, and any elemental conditions as they present themselves. If there is a cancellation necessary, we will try to do so within 24hrs of the day of the hike.

What to bring: Weather appropriate clothing, sunglasses, a protective hat, consider boots or supportive footwear, sunscreen, bug spray, a daypack or similar with water, with personal, the Hiking 10 essentials, and a positive attitude!
Due to a larger group setting, no dogs or pets unless they are working/service animals.

Admission & Parking: Parking and admission is $7 with a State Park Daily Pass OR your Annual Minnesota State Park pass!
Meet and Park at: The Minneopa State Trailhead Loop Parking Lot - off of Sioux Trail/Minnesota River Valley Scenic Bywy
The trailhead parking lot is NOT at the main entrance of the Park - If you are coming down Galdwall to the main park office, you'd turn on 547th Ave headed NORTH - The lot is located close to the trail that we will be covering.
- Use the Google Map Coordinates to the parking lot for accurate directions!
