Trail Details:
Location: Near Manitou Springs, Colorado, accessible from Ruxton Avenue.
Distance: A 3-mile out-and-back hike with a 1500-foot elevation gain.
Difficulty: Steep and challenging, with some scrambling required.
Features: Magog Rock (a large rock formation), Gog Rock, a hidden cave, and potential views of Eagle Mountain and Cameron's Cone.
Finding the Trail: The trailhead can be difficult to locate due to overgrowth and lack of maintenance, according to AllTrails users. Look for a hidden trail near Barr Trail, past the half-mile marker, and towards Ruxton Creek. Alternatively, start from Ruxton Avenue, cross the creek, and look for a "telephone pole" on the north side of the cog railway tracks (number 044954).
Recommended: Trekking poles are recommended due to the steepness and scree sections.
Route: The trail can be divided into sections: Magog ascent, crossing the creek, finding the trailhead, and the final ascent to Gog.
Descent: Consider descending from Gog into Artist's Glen for a different route.
