The ‘Tweens beginner sewing classes are designed especially for 9- to 12-year-old students who would like to learn how to use a sewing machine to create cool stuff. Students will learn about the parts of the sewing machine and what they do, how to use a sewing machine and sewing equipment safely, adjusting straight and zig zag stitches, the basics of reading an easy pattern, and types of fabrics.
Students will have the opportunity to complete 2-3 simple projects over five sessions. Project options include: a cushion cover, a tote bag, a pin cushion, a pillowcase, scrunchies, a drawstring bag, an apron, a book pillow and a patchwork placemat.
