We’re Taking Over Band on the Wall
Sonic Boom is heading to Manchester. On Thursday 17 July, we’re taking over the Copper Bar at the legendary Band on the Wall — one of the UK’s most iconic grassroots venues — for a quadruple headliner, kindly co-curated by festival host Chris Hawkins (BBC Radio 6 Music).
This one night showcase features four future headline artists, two shaking up the Midlands scene, two making waves in Manchester.
This isn’t just a gig, it’s a glimpse of what’s next.
We proudly present four future festival headliners.
Ruby J, one of the UK’s most exciting new voices, having toured with The Lathums and Scouting for Girls, with bold comparisons to Amy Winehouse and Tina Turner amongst others.. Her influences range from Billie Holiday to Paolo Nutini. Paloma Faith said "Ruby J is that unique voice"
Leah Wilcox brings a darker, dreamier edge. A gritty, romantic glitterball of a songwriter. Think Daughter meets London Grammar, filtered through the lens of love and the female experience, rooted in a unique British Midlands Countrygaze-Pop landscape. Alongside her band 'her Chikas', expect a show with wine, edge, choreography and energy.
Joel Foster is a Burton-on-Trent songwriter with hooks, lyrics and power. After appearing on the first season of ‘The Voice Kids UK’ in 2016, he knew what he was meant to do. He’s built a strong Midlands following with performances that blend indie, pop and acoustic grit. Influenced by icons like Benson Boone, Elton John, and Queen, his show is full of energy and excitement.
Completing this perfectly eclectic quadruple headliner lineup, Electronic Rock duo BODY WATER are coming to start a REVOLUTION. But be warned...it's not for the faint hearted! With huge, well deserved support from BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Introducing. If you put Queen, Billy Idol and Ozzy Osbourne in a blender, you’d get BODY WATER.
The Sonic Boom Festival takeover show is about finding the festival headliners of tomorrow, raising the grassroots and putting local new music scenes on the map. We're be bringing the summer festival energy to Band on the Wall. Sonic Boom Festival is “a festival like no other.” Chris Hawkins, BBC Radio 6 Music.
