Come join us at Bookery Manchester In this hands-on workshop, attendees will craft their own personalized sketchbooks and develop a meaningful sketchbook practices that cultivate their creative growth. From selecting papers and binding methods to exploring ways to use the sketchbook as a space for experimentation, reflection, and ideation, participants will walk away with both a custom sketchbook and new skills. We’ll explore directed writing prompts, that turn the sketchbook one that feeds your art practice and creative study.

Hi, My names Rabia

I am a traveling textile artist spending 3 months here in Manchester!

I have been using sketchbooks for around 10 years now. Initially my art practice started out interested in character design, but after creative burnout in college, I began learning sculpture and experimenting with other mediums. I learned how objects could hold symbolic meaning, which held crossovers with my experience practicing witchcraft. Now, I incorporate the framework of occult philosophies into my fiber art practice as a thematic throughline.

In this workshop, we will focus on two different mindsets on artistic research: analysis and

play. Through analysis, we will look at the themes that resonate with us. Through play, we

will take those themes and turn them into visual interest.
