Shindigger returns to The Carlton Club for another Summer Cookout with 20+ taps, five food traders and a 12-hour DJ programme curated by So Flute.
Following the huge, sell-out success of the 2023 “Cookout” concept, Shindigger once again takes over the Carlton Club on Saturday 28th June, enlisting some of Manchester’s tastiest BBQ pop-ups and the So Flute collective to hold down the respective food and music elements of the event.
Knights BBQ – known for their succulent and tender smoked Caribbean jerk chicken that pairs perfectly with a pint in the sun – return, as do Greek street food specialists Taka Taka Mam, whose offering includes a menu of chicken and lamb gyros, alongside squeaky slices of grilled halloumi for any vegetarian diners.
New additions to this year’s food offering include Gwafu Vegan (West African/ Cameroonian), Saffa Soul (South African) and Best Friends BBQ (Chinese), all of which will be bringing their signature BBQ style cookery to proceedings. For those with a sweet tooth (adults and children alike!), Ginger’s Comfort Emporium will look after you with their ice cream and sorbet delights.
In a move focused on making the event even more enjoyable for attendees of all ages, an outdoor stage and sound system will be installed on the famous Carlton Club green, with So Flute looking after the programming.
Celebrating 10 years of parties, one of Manchester’s favourite DJ collectives welcome back one of their favourite guest selectors: NTS resident, Eglo Records founder and Mr. Scruff collaborator, Alexander Nut.
Local DJs, Andrea Trout, Ellen Beth Abdi, Living Room Dance Club and Harriet U Lee join the bill alongside residents Baloo, Bolts, Danuka, Eccah, Yadava, all hosted by a very busy MC Kwasi.
After an idyllic afternoon of dancing and frolicking in the suburban sunshine, the party heads inside at 8 pm until 1 am, where guests can expect to dance the night away on a wooden dancefloor under dimly lit red lights and the iconic Carlton Club disco ball.
The ShinDigger team will be on hand throughout, with 8 additional lines for this edition of the Cookout – pouring a mix of tropical pale classics and new releases across the main bar, plus 2 additional ShinDigger special pop-up tap stations across the site.
With over 20+ taps across the site pouring a range of fresh, local and independent beer, the day and night Cookout punters will be totally refreshed with juicy Manchester-made goodness.
If that wasn’t enough, a unique ‘ShinDigger x Carlton Club’ zesty New Zealand hopped pale ale will also be available on site, with profits going toward Carlton Club’s ‘Save the Club’ fund.
Additionally, 25% of all event profits will be donated to The Carlton Club’s Save Our Club fund.
In keeping with the accessibility ethos shared with the event hosts, and in line with 2023’s prices, Early Bird tickets for the day session start at just £5, with a dual day and night ticket costing £15.
With summer well and truly on its way, the second edition of the Cookout will no doubt be a great celebration of what Manchester does best, and is more than likely to be as popular and even more fun than the first.
