Andrés Peña will be dancing at shows in Manchester on Friday 9 May and Liverpool on Saturday 10 May. He is performing with virtuoso guitarist Jesús Guerrero, who has kindly agreed to join the intermediate dance class to accompany us.
Andrés, from Jerez de la Frontera has toured worldwide with acclaimed shows over many years, both as a soloist and together with Pilar Ogalla and other artists, winning numerous awards including 'audience favourite' twice at the international Festival de Jerez. Andrés began dancing at the age of 10 with Angelita Gomez, and soon joined professional companies of Manuel Morao, La Chunga, Carmen Cortés, with the show ‘Salomé’, then Eva Yerbabuena, for the shows ‘Eva’ and ‘5 mujeres 5’ (international tours as principal dancer). He was awarded the Jóvenes Intérpretes Flamencos prize at the Seville Biennial in 2000 and the Jerez Cup by the Cátedra de Flamencología de Jerez de la Frontera in 2005 which helped to launch his solo career. He has presented nine shows at the Festival of Jerez and the Bienal de Sevilla, touring in many countries worldwide.
Andrés is also an experienced teacher, taking students from beginner to professional level, with regular invitations to teach in national and international flamenco schools. His specialism is in interpreting the flamenco cante (song) and helping his students to develop skills in improvisation and musical expression. He is a co-director of the Ballet Flamenco de Cádiz and presented the show 'Acuarela con sal' at the Festival of Jerez in 2025, as a soloist and choreographer.
