Art and Architecture of Sicily

Julian Treuherz is an art historian who worked as a curator at Manchester Art Galley before becoming Keeper of Art Galleries for National Museums Liverpool between 1989 and 2007. A specialist in Victorian art, he has written many books, articles and exhibition catalogues. Over the last twenty-five years he has spent part of the year in Sicily studying its art and architecture.
In his talk he explains how he came to write the book, and discusses the waves of successive cultures that have influenced the art and architecture of Sicily from prehistory to the 1980s. The talk is illustrated with photographs from the book.
His book Art and Architecture of Sicily published by Lund Humphries in Summer 2023 is available from good bookshops, on-line or direct from Lund Humphries. ISBN 9781848226043. Signed copies will be available for sale at a discounted price at the talk.
The talk (in English) will be followed by a social gathering with a glass of wine and nibbles.
