Vio - lence
Vio - lence is an American thrash metal band formed in 1985 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Throughout their career, they have released demo tapes, three EPs and three studio albums. Vio - lence is best-known for their association with the 1980s Bay Area thrash metal scene, and often credited as one of the leading lights of the second wave of the genre. They are also considered to be a member of the "Big Six of Bay Area Thrash Metal," alongside Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Lȧȧz Rockit and Forbidden.
This summer, Vio - lence is celebrating the 35th anniversary of their killer sopohomore album ‘Oppressing The Masses’. They will perform the album in its entirety along with other favorites from their catalogue. ‘Oppressing the Masses’ and the band's legendary debut album ‘Eternal Nightmare’ are two of the most classic and unique records to come out of the vibrant Bay Area thrash scene of the 80's / early 90's. Pestilence
Pestilence was one of the top Death Metal bands of the late 80's and early 90's, with albums such as Consuming Impulse andTestimony Of The Ancients still regarded as some of the best death metal albums of all time. The band formed in the Netherlands in 1986 and released their classic thrashy debut album ‘Malleus Maleficarum’ in 1988. The band moved into death metal territory with their second album ‘Consuming Impulse’ drawing critical acclaim. The band took a more technical and progressive approach with the third album ‘Testimony Of The Ancients,’ a record that co-defined early progressive death metal and brought the band even more acclaim, with the music video for ‘Land of Tears’ getting heavy rotation on MTV's Headbangers Ball. The band's fourth album ‘Spheres’ was an even more complex affair, mixing jazz elements into their death metal style while also incorporating guitar synths throughout the album. After disbanding in order to pursue other musical directions in 1994, Pestilence reunited in 2008 and 2016. To date, Pestilence has released ten studio albums, and they are one of "technical death metal's Big Four", along with Death, Atheist, and Cynic. Their latest studio album is entitled ‘Exitivm’ and a brand new full-length, ‘Portals,’ is expected to be released this summer.
