How do supported studios help to create a more socially equitable and representative art field? Join Lucy Smalley, curator of the exhibition “Speaking Volumes”, in conversation with representatives from the supported art studios in the USA, UK and Sweden that have made the exhibition possible.
The conversation will serve as an introduction to the role and function of supported studios. Together they will explore the potential these structures offer to artists with disabilities and discuss why supported studios are vital—not only for the advancement of contemporary art, but as catalysts for broader systemic change. The conversation will be held in English.
Through Speaking Volumes, Malmö Konsthall seeks to challenge normative ideas of how artistic quality is defined, and to create space for conversation about representation within contemporary art.
