Widely credited with bringing hip hop into the mainstream, The Sugarhill Gang made history in 1979 with the release of ”Rapper’s Delight”, the first rap single to become a Top 40 hit worldwide. Their infectious flow, party-starting rhymes, and funk-infused beats introduced a whole new sound to the world — laying the groundwork for generations of MCs and DJs to come. This is your chance to hear the anthem that started it all, live on stage!
The Furious Five (US)
Originally part of the legendary group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Melle Mel and Scorpio helped define the political and poetic power of hip hop. Their iconic 1982 track ”The Message” was one of the first rap songs to tackle social issues and remains one of the most influential pieces of music ever released. Expect razor-sharp lyricism, raw funk grooves, and true hip hop history in motion.
