As the film industry becomes increasingly globalized, co-productions offer filmmakers the opportunity to collaborate across borders, access new funding sources, and expand their
reach to international audiences. This panel discussion will explore the strategies and best practices behind successful global co-productions, focusing on how filmmakers can navigate the complexities of working with international partners.
Panelists Producer Karim Aitouna together with Producers Marta Reguera and Olivier Guerpillon from Fox in the Snow, will draw from their experience in international projects such as Poisonous Roses (Ahmad Fawzi Saleh), Yomeddine and Hajjan (Abu Bakr Shawky),to address key topics like financing, legal frameworks, creative collaboration, and distribution
strategies.
The discussion moderated by Film Critic Ahmed Shawky, will also provide insights into how co-productions can play a huge role in cultural exchange and create dynamic partnerships to
bring diverse stories to the global stage.
Marta Reguear
Marta Reguera is a Spanish-born producer based in Sweden. She has worked in
the production of films like QUIET LIFE (Alexandros Avranas, Venice 2024),ISOLATION (Venice 2021) and THE DOG by Baker Karim (AFRIFF 2024). She is currently co-producing, Spanish debut feature by Lucía Aleñar Iglesias, and THE STORIES, the third film of Egyptian filmmaker Abu Bakr Shawky -both in post-production.
Fady Atallah
Fady Gamal Atallah is a film director, producer, and the co founder of B-RETTA FILM in Stockholm. With a background in engineering, he pursued his passion for film, studying at
Stockholm Film School and De Montfort University, where he earned his MA in filmmaking.He has created award-winning short films and documentaries, including Raindance Film
Festival 2019 Official Selections and a Special Jury Prize at CNFF 2016. His films in progress received support from institutions including Swedish Film Institute, Film i Skåne
and Doha Film Institute.
Olivier Guerpillon
Olivier Guerpillon is a French-born Swedish producer and director, manager of filmcompany Fox in the Snow. He has produced and co-produced award-winning feature
films such as QUIET LIFE by Alexandros Avranas (Venice 2024), BENEATH THE PAVEMENT, THE BEACH (Henrik Hellström, 2024), COSTA BRAVA LEBANON by Akl (Venice, Toronto 2021), SOUND OF NOISE (Cannes 2010), as well as
co-directed the anthology film ISOLATION (Venice 2021).

Ahmed Shawky
He is an Egyptian film critic, programmer, and elected president of the international film critics federation (FIPRESCI). Publishing weekly articles about cinema and entertainment
industry. He has also published eight books Egyptian cinema.
Shawky is also the president of Egyptian film critics association (EFCA). He is the head of CineGouna Funding, the industry program of El Gouna Film Festival.
He worked as an artistic director/ programmer for many film festivals including Cairo, Malmo,Aswan, Tripoli, Mumbai, among others. He acted as jury in various festivals such as
Locarno, Shanghai, Eurasia, Transylvania, Macao, Luxembourg, Oran, and Taipei. Shawky was the president of the Cannes film festival 2022 FIPRESCI Jury and of the same Jury in Berlinale 2025
