Practical Coaching in Action (6 CPD points)

An interactive CPD day designed to develop real-world coaching skills — ideal for trainee coaches, practising professionals and coach educators alike. A chance to learn, share and grow together in a supportive, hands-on environment.

Led by Fred Hodges BHSI, BE Youth Trainer and BHS Senior Assessor, this day explores not just how we coach, but why. We’ll examine how we connect with riders, who we’re really coaching, and — for coach educators — how we pass on effective practice to the next generation.

The day includes practical activities and real-life coaching scenarios. We’ll start with lesson planning, then move on to live demo sessions with guinea pig riders, followed by group discussion and reflection. Demonstrations will include:

1. Stage 2 group lesson
2. Stage 3 cross-country
3. Combined Stage 3 & 4 dressage session
4. Stage 4 jump lesson
