Welcome to Shostakovich @ 150! Join us on Thu, Feb 13, 2025 at 7:30 PM at the Berrie Center for a night of celebrating the 150th birthday of the legendary composer, Dmitri Shostakovich. Under the baton of conductor Kyunghun Kim, the program begins with the World Premiere of Gilad Cohen’s Between the Suns, an orchestration of his chamber piece Ten Variations, which was premiered by the Nash Ensemble of London in 2011 and won international awards in the US and Europe. It will be followed by Carl Maria von Weber’s Concerto for Clarinet No. 2 in E-flat major, Op. 74, featuring the talented clarinetist Kingsley Hsieh. The evening culminates in a powerful performance of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1 in F minor, Op. 10, one of his early masterworks. Don’t miss this exciting musical journey!
