Madison’s Natural Treasures: From Mountains to Streams to Quarries

Join Madison Greenways & Trails for a tour of three of our local wonderful natural areas. One is a beloved established mountain hiking area in the east of Madison. The second Is a new preserve taking shape in the center of town with beautiful streams and springs, ideally located for a new greenway to connect east and west. The third is an area of stark beauty with great potential for walking and biking trails in the south of town. Jim will describe the local volunteer group Madison Greenways & Trails' vision for these critically needed public preserves. He will review the city's high-level plans as documented in the city master plan. Bill will give us a bird's eye view of these beautiful areas with his amazing documentary and drone footage. Bill’s most recent nature documentary is Alabama Public Television’s Discovering Alabama: Urban Nature Preserves ( https://www.discoveringalabama.org/98-urban-preserves.html). Bill Heslip is a nature film producer exploring scenic and natural wonders in and around the Huntsville area and the people and stories behind them.
