How to be a Christian Witness for a Disenchanted World

The modern world is increasingly marked by disenchantment. As Western culture drifts away from traditional sources of meaning and transcendence, we face a growing sense of spiritual emptiness, cultural shallowness, and social isolation. Anxiety and depression are on the rise, and loneliness and cynicism are eroding our sense of community and purpose across society.

Yet amidst these challenges lies opportunity. Today's religious, cultural, and social landscape is primed for communicating the gospel in fresh ways. Christians in the 21st century may particularly benefit from considering (1) how the doctrine of God serves as an antidote to modern despair and (2) how the beauty of the gospel can strike modern hearts with renewed power. In this lecture, Gavin Ortlund, Christian apologist and YouTube commentator, will diagnose our current cultural moment and then offer specific strategies for how Christians can respond with the hope of the gospel in ways that speak to our disenchanted age. Join us for this evening of thoughtful conversation.

Gavin Ortlund (PhD, Fuller Theological Seminary) is a pastor, author, speaker, and apologist for the Christian faith. He serves as the president of Truth Unites, visiting professor of historical theology at Phoenix Seminary, and theologian-in-residence at Immanuel Nashville.
