Blue Apple Books is honored to celebrate the release of What Will I Be From A to Z by local author and educator Laura Wadsworth Carter on Tuesday, July 1 from 4-6 PM.
Laura's second picture book for children, it has been named a 2025 Children's Book Council "Hot Off the Press" Pick! We will have copies for sale at the Release Party, and Laura will read the book for attendees and sign purchased copies, personalizing them for the child(ren) in your life.

It’s never too early to ask yourself, “What will I be when I grow up?” But the reality is that many fields do not represent the wonderful diversity of our world. Helping children of all genders, races, and abilities to see themselves in a variety of professions, What Will I Be From A to Z is an introduction to STEAM fields from astronaut to zoologist. With simple rhyming text and colorful illustration from the dream team behind A Steminist Force, author Laura Carter and illustrator Anna Doherty, comes an invitation to dream big and follow your passion. Includes one page of discussion questions to help kids identify their interests and set goals.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Laura Wadsworth Carter is an Alabama native and a graduate of the University of Montevallo, from which she received a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Education. By day, she’s a high school history teacher who dabbles in gardening and is in a perpetual state of planning her next road trip. By night, she writes books for children and teenagers. Her first young adult novel, The Elect, was published in 2016 by Clean Reads Press. Its sequel, Restoration, released in February 2019. She has two picture books from Familius Press.
